How do I get into publishing?

We hire many people who just have a real interest in our industry and we consider all levels of education and experience. But the best way to see if a career in publishing is for you is to enroll in one of these Publishing Programs:

How many people work for Pearson Canada?

Pearson Canada currently employs approximately 660 people. The majority of our staff is located at our corporate offices in Don Mills, Ontario and in our Distribution Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. Our Sales Representatives are based across Canada and work out of their home-offices.

Who are Pearson Canada's biggest competitors?

Do you hire summer students?

Yes, we hire summer students every summer in various roles. Most of the summer positions are based in the Newmarket warehouse where students work on two shifts (day and afternoon) and preference is given to applicants with previous warehousing and shift-work experience.

Do you hire interns and co-op students?

Pearson Canada is proud to partner with leading higher education institutions such as Seneca College, Centennial College, Ryerson University, and the University of Waterloo, and regularly post co-op positions. If you do not see a co-op position posted at your school, we encourage you to contact us directly. We typically hire students in our Production Editorial, IS&T, Publicity, Marketing, and New Media departments.

Do I need to include a cover letter with my resume?

A cover letter is preferred when applying.

Should I follow up my application with a phone call?

It is not necessary to follow up with a phone call but please feel free to do so.

If I apply for one job and then another one comes up that I am interested in as well, should I send my résumé and cover letter again?

Yes, it's best to have all your bases covered.

What are the chances of my application being considered when there isn't a specific posting?

Pearson Canada retains all résumés that are submitted. Should a current position not be available that would be a fit for your qualifications and experience, your résumé will be kept on file and you will be considered when a suitable role does arise.

How long will you keep my application on file?

Your application will remain on file for a period of 1 year.
