OPEN POSITION
Pearson Learning Solutions and the Higher Education Division are currently recruiting for a Custom Acquisitions Editor. The Custom Acquisitions Editor will be Alberta based and have personal responsibility for all AB accounts. This position reports to Lori Bittker, Senior Managing Editor, Pearson Learning Solutions.
The Custom Acquisitions Editor coordinates all custom publishing activities in the designated territory, and ensures projects are profitable and timely.
The Job:
- Ensure existing customers get the best service possible, while still building new business.
- Strategize with PEC reps and managers to identify and grow media, traditional and Pearson Custom Library custom business.
- Strategize with Custom Media Editors to grow media business in your territory.
- Negotiate contracts with custom authors.
- Guide custom project through entire lifecycle. This includes managing author timelines, developing project for submission to production, working with designated custom departments and providing direction when necessary.
- Manage backlist revision, retention and reprints
- Liaise with Canadian marketers and editors to define projects and markets to be expanded and developed
- Train HED Managers and Sales Reps on how to use custom publishing as a tool, without eroding current business.
The Person:
- Successful track record of 2 years + selling higher education learning materials.
- Proven project management and office systems skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Able to multi-task and set priorities.
- Familiar with rights, royalties and permissions.
- Strong customer focus.
- PC skills in MS Office.
