POSITION SUMMARY:
Within an Agile framework, collaborate with other team members to research and internalize proposed User Stories, refine software requirements and functional designs, quantify the work to be performed, and commit to delivering compelling, high quality solutions. Develop and implement test plans, test strategies. Create and document test requirements and high level test cases, followed by creation and execution of detailed test cases. This includes the creation of necessary test data. Communicate and present test artifacts such as test plans, test cases, and quality assurance processes. This includes communication with Product Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Engineering Staff, Product Support Staff, and executive staff.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Perform manual testing to ensure the software meets stated requirements & designs, and has a positive user experience. This may include black box, white box, positive, negative, boundary, stress, integration, exploratory, usability, system, platform, or regression testing methodologies.
- Perform verification on software defect fixes to ensure they resolve the stated problem.
- Follow sound problem solving methodologies to identify, troubleshoot, and properly document software defects.
- Perform maintenance on existing testware, and implement incremental improvements.
- Identify, quantify, and communicate software risks, and produce solid mitigation strategies.
- Uphold existing quality assurance standards and processes, and be a champion in driving further improvements.
- Produce estimates for the time needed to execute on assigned projects and tasks.
- Train and mentor new test engineers and perform peer test plan reviews.
- Create and execute on personal project plans.
- Provide consistent and accurate quality assurance metrics for the scope of assigned work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
- 3-5 years of relevant quality assurance experience developing test plans, test requirements, and test cases for the purpose of testing web-based applications
- Strong knowledge of established quality assurance test methodologies
- Expert knowledge of iterative development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum
- Strong knowledge of how to manage test requirements, test cases, and test execution using HP Quality Center, or equivalent tool
- Working experience with relational databases such as MS SQL, Oracle or Sybase. This includes the ability to read and write SQL statements.
- Working experience with Windows client and server operating systems
- Working experience with MAC OS is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret HTML and XML

- Exceptional organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work well independently, and in a team environment (including distributed team environments)
- A PLUS! - Ability to develop and execute whitebox style test cases using API's, scripting, or test harnesses such as Junit.
- A PLUS! - Previous experience in the field of K-12 education, or SIS.
