Job Title: Systems Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, customize, implement and maintain new or upgraded releases of vendor HW/SW components supporting critical systems.
  • Participate in on-call after-hours rotation. Ability to provide after-hours support on a rotational "on-call" basis and to work "off-hours" as needed.
  • Occasional weekend work is required.
  • Assist in maintenance and support of local and remote Windows servers in support of critical business functions.
  • Perform technical analysis, design and consultation for projects and proposals.
  • Recommend, select, install, build, implement, and maintain complex networked systems.
  • Ensures availability, reliability, and optimal performance of networked systems and services
  • Install, customize, implement, and maintain new or upgraded releases of vendor supplied systems and software which support critical system functions.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Provide technical and product guidance and advice to customers.
  • Analyze and solve conceptual and complex problems/situations of a global nature.
  • Support/lead decision making process related to future technical issues and long-term technical direction.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline strongly preferred. Candidates with equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in systems analysis, systems software or computer hardware usage providing support in data communication systems implementation and support data communications protocols, hardware LAN and WAN design implementation and support and multi-platform system integration.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows 2000 and 2003 Server administration required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dell or Compaq/HP (Intel) hardware repair/troubleshooting (break-fix) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a support team and excellent communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience with User and Group security permissions management required.
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Terminal Services, Patch Management, DNS, WINS and DHCP preferred.
  • Experience with scripting, VMWare, IIS, Print services, Sitescope monitoring and Exchange are all pluses.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and IP routing, including experience with Cisco or equivalent is a real plus
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup systems and best practices desired.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs is desired.
