Joseph Kertes wins the 59th annual National Jewish Book Award for Fiction for his novel Gratitude.

US, January 15, 2010 – Joseph Kertes has won the 59th annual National Jewish Book Award for Fiction (JJ Greenberg Memorial Award) for his novel Gratitude. Based in the US, The National Jewish Book Awards is the longest running North American awards program of its kind in the field of Jewish literature and is recognized as the most prestigious. The US publisher for Gratitude is Thomas Dunne Books
 
The winners of the 2009 National Jewish Book Award will be honoured on March 9th, 2010, at a gala award ceremony to be held at the Center for Jewish
History in Manhattan.
 
Earlier in 2009, Joseph also won the The Canadian Society for Yad Vashem Award—part of the Canadian Jewish Book Awards.
