Professor Cathy Marks Krpan teaches in the Department for Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning at OISE. Dr. Marks Krpan has also completed research on the development of critical thinking through graphic organizers (such as concept maps and mind maps). She is currently investigating effective teaching strategies that assist English Language Learners in mathematics classsrooms. Other topics of interest include the development of student metacognition, effective assessment strategies, critical thinking models and student inquiry mathematics and science.

- Strategies in teaching K-8 students how to become effective in reading, writing and expressing mathematical ideas

- Acquire strategies to help students learn how to problem solve, justify, and explain their reasoning
